About

Hi. My name is Louis.

Once I was a journalist.

I told stories using words and pictures and their creative juxtaposition to one another. It was an amazing time. To be able to immerse myself in a new or unfamiliar world, spend time there, capture moments and then come out on the other side with a tale to tell … Yes, it was an adventure.

Before that I was a little kid.

My parents used to take me and my sister to one of those strip mall photo studios where they would unroll some fake background – usually an idyllic meadow scene or the dark wood walls of some imaginary family library – and then the photographer would make us say a series of silly words in the slim hope of eliciting a smile. I loved my parents but I hated that photo place. It never felt real.

As a journalist, I was tasked with documenting the reality of a situation. Finding the truth.

As a kid, I had those wide eyes of childhood. Seeing things for the first time. Taking it all in. Being amazed at the world around me.

As a photographer, I have tried to combine the best of both worlds and experiences. I have tried to capture those moments in our lives that make us laugh, smile, cry, love, dance and howl at moon. The moments that make us feel alive. The real moments.
